Protect a property owner’s rights - Stop the City Council from passing COPA.
The Community Opportunity to Purchase Act would add at least 6 months to the process of selling property in New York City by giving nonprofit organizations a “first right to purchase” and “right-of-first-refusal” of multifamily buildings when owners want to sell.
This would require property owners to report plans to sell residential buildings to HPD before listing them publicly, and to leave open a window of at least 120 days before a property could be sold.
